DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND TREATMENT
Infertility is
defined as the inability to conceive after at least one year of trying.
If you are having trouble getting pregnant, we can help. The type of
fertility treatment depends upon the cause of infertility. In women,
diagnostic tests are important in accessing the health of the fallopian
tubes, uterus (womb), and the ovaries. For men, the Family Fertility
Center houses a state-of-the-art
andrology
laboratory for diagnostic and treatment of male factor
infertility. The Family Fertility Center offers the latest comprehensive
diagnostic testing, infertility treatment services and fertility surgery
to help couples achieve pregnancy.

CONVENTIONAL
INFERTILITY TREATMENT SERVICES
Ovulation Induction
Ovulation is the
release of an egg or eggs by the ovary. In women who do not release
mature eggs, oral medications (Clomiphene Citrate) or injectable fertility drugs can
stimulate the ovary and help them ovulate.
Controlled Ovarian
Hyperstimulation
The ovary is
stimulated with fertility drugs to produce several eggs for
fertilization. The development of follicles (containing eggs) is tracked
using transvaginal ultrasound, and estrogen levels are measured in blood
samples. Monitoring ovarian response is important to minimize side
effects and/or the risk of multiple pregnancy.
Intrauterine
Insemination (IUI) or Artificial Insemination
Is a procedure in
which washed sperm are concentrated then inserted directly into the uterus
using a fine catheter around the time of ovulation to increase the chance
of conception.
Fertility Surgery
Dr. Christina Lee is

can be performed at the St. Luke's Medical Center, whereas others are
conveniently available at the Family Fertility Center.
Assisted
Reproductive Technologies (A.R.T.)

facing more difficult challenges, cutting-edge assisted reproductive
technology services (ART Services), such as IVF, ICSI, and
preimplantation genetic diagnosis
(PGD).
Third Party
Reproduction
For some women previously thought
to be helplessly infertile, the Family Fertility Center offers a
successful Egg
Donor Program. The egg donor program is an option for
certain women who cannot get pregnant because their eggs are no
longer healthy, such as women who may have postponed childbearing or
others who have suffered premature menopause.
We offer a
comprehensive Gestational Surrogacy Program
for couples in which the woman produces healthy eggs but is unable to
carry a pregnancy to term.
